The expansion of the Will County Adult Detention Center adds 585 beds to the existing facility which is located on an 11.8 acre site south of the Joliet, Illinois City Center and between Chicago and Ottawa Streets.  This project creates 163,000 square feet of new building space and also includes 41,000 square feet of renovated space.  In addition to the newly created beds, support spaces including intake/booking, medical, kitchen,  laundry,  programming and administration are provided to meet the growth of the detainee capacity within the facility.  A separate video visiting building has also been designed for this project.

The design of the exterior of the building includes architectural masonry and aluminum curtainwall to blend with the existing facility and with the business buildings of the adjacent city center.  Extensive site work was designed to provide adequate parking, storm water management and landscaping.  This $50 million project is scheduled for completion in spring of 2009.
