CHANNAHON MEDICAL CENTER

The Channahon Medical Center was created by Silver Cross Hospital to serve the Village of Channahon and nearby areas with outpatient medical services. The site is centrally located in the community and is adjacent to a residential neighborhood. The exterior design was created to blend with this residential character.

The exterior finishes for the building include face brick walls, aluminum clad windows, and sloped asphalt roof shingles. The entry is covered with a large drive-thru roofed area. The landscaping was designed to blend with the residential character of the neighborhood.

The plan is centered around a core which includes the large registration area, office area and nurses work area. The waiting room is adjacent to the registration area and the exam, x ray and other diagnostic services are near the nurses work area.

Interior finishes include carpet and ceramic floors, vinyl wall coverings and acoustical tile ceilings. Large glass areas provide excellent natural light and together with careful color selection of the finishes, a pleasant environment is created for both staff and patients.

The 8,000 square foot building was completed in 1998 for a cost of $1.4 million.
