JOLIET PUBLIC LIBRARY ADDITION The 49,000 square foot addition to the Joliet Public Library was completed in 1991 at a cost of $6.7 million. The addition was designed to provide a user friendly environment which included a new circulation area, additional book stack areas, a variety of seating areas, computer work stations and meeting rooms. The exterior was designed to match the character of the original building designed by Daniel H. Burnham in 1903. The careful detailing of the limestone exterior wall resulted in a Silver Award from the Illinois Indiana Masonry Institute. In making the award the judges stated:
